Dynamic Obsidian views
A dynamic view is a dashboard that stays correct without you babysitting it.
Instead of maintaining lists by hand, you tag notes with a few fields (state, impact, timeliness) and let a view render the live list.
What changes when views are dynamic
- your task list is no longer a separate system
- "next" becomes mechanically visible
- review becomes faster because the queue is already prepared
Three high-leverage views
Next actions
A list of notes where state: next, sorted by urgency and impact.
Review queue
A list of outputs that need human review (drafts, AI work, pending decisions).
Project dashboard
A table grouped by objective with a few fields that matter:
- progress
- impact
- timeliness
- last touched
The small rule that keeps it clean
Do not add more metadata fields until you can explain why the view needs them.
Next step
Create one dynamic view that answers:
"What should I do next?"
Use it for a week and only then decide what to refine.
